A BlogBook is a structured series of blog entries and other things that, when taken together, form a larger narrative. Entries that are part of BlogBooks have notices that they are part of a book.
The following BlogBooks are available from iRi:
- Programming Wisdom
Shortcuts to Better Programming.
You can pick up knowledge about programming from any number of sources; wisdom is somewhat harder. I don't believe that wisdom can truly be taught, but I believe you can speed people along to attaining it. That is the goal of this book. It is especially targeted to those just starting out on their programming career, and is especially targeted at someone willing to go above and beyond the standard curriculum you'd get at a school without somebody forcing them along.
Status: In Progress (not done, but stuff worth seeing)
- The Ethics of Modern Communication
A unified, principled treatment of copyright, trademark, certain patents, and other communication issues into a single framework.
Communication technology has changed so radically in the past ten years that we no longer even know what is ethical, let alone legal. This book examines why communication has changed, why it is now impossible to think about communication the way we are accustomed to thinking, and proposes a workable framework defining ethical communication in the Internet era. The author applies this framework to the many controversies boiling around the net today, and attempts to derive legal principles (i.e., practical ethics) that can be used reliably, even by those who do not have a deep understanding of technical issues.
